The Marina

Covering 7.5 acres and situated under the famous M2 Motorway bridges in Rochester, Kent the marina provides the perfect base from which to explore.

Covering 12 nautical miles from Garrison Point to Rochester Bridge the tidal section of the River Medway is steeped in history with a fascinating heritage that goes back to Roman England.  The Normans built a stronghold and a cathedral, the Knights Templar were based here and, in the 16th century Henry VIII founded the Royal Dockyard where later Nelson’s flagship HMS Victory was built. The lower reaches of the Medway offer numerous creeks with secluded anchorages perfect for lazy summer afternoons.

For vessels with draft less than 2 metres the tidal river continues a further 9 nautical miles upstream to Allington Lock.  Once through Allington lock the non-tidal river stretches for a further 17 nautical miles winding through picturesque countryside and 9 locks finishing up at Tonbridge Town Centre where the low level town bridge brings a halt to the journey for the majority of vessels.

Being only 12 nautical miles from open sea the marina is also an ideal base for those wishing to explore the River Thames, the South and East Coasts with all their harbours and rivers.  For the more adventurous wishing to explore the continent, ports such as Calais, Dunkirk and Ostend are all less than 100 nautical miles away.
