All powerboat courses can be held on either the school boats or we can provide an instuctor to meet you on your own boat and give specific tuition relevant to your own craft. The cost of the courses cased on the school boat includes the use of life jackets and wet weather clothing, launch fees, fuel used throughout the duration of the course and all training aids. Powerboat Level IIThis is a two-day boat handling and safety course suitable for beginners and new owners of powerboats. At the culmination of the course you will be equipped with basic and background knowledge to become a competent powerboat handler. - Boat preparation

Advanced Powerboat CourseThis again is held over two days and will incorporate a night passage. The course aims to provide you with skills & background knowledge to operate safely in more demanding coastal waters by day and night. - Boat handling

Pre-course requirement: Powerboat Level II with navigation and chartwork to Day Skipper standard, First Aid Certificate and VHF Operators Certificate. At the end of the course successful candidates will be awarded the Advanced course completion Certificate. Candidates wishing to gain a Certificate of Competence will be required to attend a practical exam. Commercial EndorsementsOperators of commercial Vessels are required to hold a certificate with a commercial endorsement. All the following are based on a maximum of 12 passengers, no cargo and are valid for vessels of up to 24 metres in length.
For vessels that put sea within 3miles from a nominated departure point and never more than 3 miles from land, in favorable weather and daylight hours. - RYA Advanced Powerboat Certificate

Instructor CoursesMedway Cruising School are able to offer instructor courses at all levels of the Powerboat scheme. The powerboat Level II Instructor Course is a three day course. Pre-course requirements: Minimum age of 16, First Aid Certificate, Powerboat Level II Certificate, VHF Operators Certificate, experienced powerboat driver.
